Daphnie du Maurier had a wonderful imagination for her novels, but not about herself. Her beautiful houses match up to Manderlay and are just as secretive for us now they are lost to us. If you want a sequel read Susan Hill's 'Mrs de Winter', loved it:
The undertaker's men were like crows, stiff and black, and the cars wee black, lined up beside the path that led to the church; and we, we too were black, as we stood in our pathetic, awkward group waiting for them to lift out the coffin and shoulder it, and for the clergyman to arrange himself, and he was another black crow, in his long cloak." she always writes with an eye to the reader. If you like autobiographies read hers it will bring a tear to the eye 'The Magic Apple Tree' and other nonfiction, plus lovely childrens books 'The Glass Angel.' married to Stanley Wells the great authority on Shakespeare. happy reading
